Dear GNBVT School Community,
As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of spring vacation, I can sense the excitement building among students and staff alike. It’s a time to recharge, rejuvenate, and come back ready to tackle the rest of the school year with renewed energy and focus.
But before we embark on our well-deserved break, I want to highlight an event that’s sure to be the standout of our spring calendar: Multicultural Day Celebration. Set to take place on April 12th, this event will be a vibrant celebration of diversity and inclusion within our school community.
We have an exciting lineup planned, including a diverse breakfast and lunch menu featuring cuisines from around the world. Our cafeteria team has been hard at work crafting delicious dishes that will tantalize your taste buds and showcase the richness of different cultures.
In addition to the culinary delights, we’ll also have plenty of opportunities to immerse ourselves in various cultural traditions. From dance performances to displays of cultural dress and regalia, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and appreciate.
I’m also thrilled to announce our collaboration with the Cuttyhunk STEAM Academy Fine Energy Collaborative. This partnership represents an incredible opportunity for our students to engage in hands-on learning experiences and explore the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
As we approach this eventful time, I encourage all of you to embrace the spirit of diversity and inclusivity that defines our school community. Let’s come together to celebrate our differences and learn from one another, fostering a sense of unity and understanding that will carry us forward.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend filled with joy, relaxation, and perhaps a glimpse of the springtime beauty that surrounds us.
Warm regards,
Principal Williams

Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Family Engagement, District Title IX Coordinator
Dear Parents and Guardians, April is a month full of diversity and inclusion efforts school wide. As we celebrate Arab American Heritage and Diversity Month, it is also a nationwide observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This time is dedicated to raising public awareness about sexual assault, educating communities on how to prevent it, and honoring the courage of survivors. It is a call to action for all of us to play a role in creating a safer environment for our children, families, and neighbors. As we continue our commitment to fostering an environment rooted in diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging, our mission is to create safe and nurturing spaces where every child and family feels valued, heard and respected. To maintain and nurture this environment, we also need to be mindful of behaviors that undermine these values. Bullying, exclusion, disrespect, and prejudice have no place at GNBVT. We encourage difficult conversations – open and respectful conversations about inappropriate behaviors, showing empathy, understanding, and growth. It is through these discussions that we can further educate ourselves and our children about the importance of acceptance, healthy relationships, respect, and consent. I invite you to join us in raising awareness and important dialogue about diversity and sexual misconduct. As the District Title IX Coordinator, let’s commit to being part of the solution and work together to ensure that our school community is a place where every family can thrive, and every child feels empowered to be their true self. Thank you for joining us in this important endeavor. Always remember, GNBVT CARES!

In 2022, President Biden became the first U.S. president to declare April as Arab American Heritage Month, in recognition of the contributions of Arab Americans to the nation’s history. Americans of Arab heritage have advanced the nation’s achievements in diplomacy, science, technology, as well as in art and culture.

It is a time dedicated to promoting and embracing the rich mix of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives that make up American society. The month encourages people to learn about and appreciate the various traditions, histories, and contributions of different ethnicities, religions, genders, abilities, and more. It aims to foster understanding, respect, and inclusion among diverse communities, while challenging stereotypes and biases. Celebrate Diversity Month inspires individuals, schools, and communities to engage in activities, discussions, and initiatives that highlight the value of diversity and create a more inclusive and harmonious society. Take the time to involve yourself and others in learning about cultures and religions that are not part of your daily life.

Celebrating Multiculturalism: GNBVT Embraces Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Belonging
GNBVT is thrilled to announce the celebration of Multicultural Day on Friday, April 12, 2024. This inaugural event is a significant step toward celebrating the diverse backgrounds of our student body and emphasizing our commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion, diversity, equity, and belonging within our school community.
Multicultural Day is set to offer an enlightening and engaging experience, symbolizing GNBVT’s dedication to creating an educational setting where every faculty, staff, and student feels valued, heard, and included. Through a variety of planned activities, we aim to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for the multitude of cultures represented at our school, reinforcing the idea that diversity is our strength.
Yolanda Dennis, Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Family Engagement, shares her enthusiasm for the upcoming festivities, "Multicultural Day represents our relentless pursuit of an inclusive, empathetic, and welcoming school culture. It provides a vibrant platform for students to explore and celebrate the myriad cultures within our community, fostering a day rich in learning, connection, and relationship-building."
On this special day, the GNBVT Student Council encourages students, faculty, and staff to wear attire that reflects their cultural heritage, adding an element to the celebration of diversity. The day will begin with a student-curated diverse breakfast, followed by a specially themed lunch menu, offering a taste of the wide array of cultures present within our school community.
In addition to the culinary experiences, Multicultural Day will feature a series of activities throughout all lunch shifts. By facilitating these experiences, GNBVT not only aims to educate, but also to inspire our students to embrace and celebrate diversity in all its forms.
