Born in Israel, Safra Ada Catz is the CEO of Oracle Corporation and a billionaire banker and technology executive. She moved from Israel to Brookline, Massachusetts at the age of six. Catz earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and worked on Wall Street for fourteen years where she covered the software industry. She joined Oracle in 1999 and spearheaded Oracle’s aggressive acquisition strategy, helping the corporation close over 130 acquisitions.
When the founder of Oracle, Larry Ellison, stepped down from the role of CEO in September of 2014, Safra Catz was appointed the new Ceo after him. Her roles prior to being named CEO include being President of Oracle from 2004 to 2014, CFO from 2011 to 2014 and from 2005 to 2008, and a member of Oracle’s Board of Directors since 2001. Today she serves as a director of The Walt Disney Company while remaining the CEO of the Oracle Corporation.
