Spring is in the air, and we are thrilled about the exciting events coming up at GNBVT! The much anticipated Spring Fling Dance is just around the corner, giving students the chance to celebrate and make lasting memories with friends. We also can’t wait for our fundraiser at Cask and Pig, where a fun-filled night of bingo will bring our school community together in support of our students. And, as we approach the final stretch of the school year, report cards will be published on March 21—a perfect time to reflect on progress and set goals for the months ahead.
While we look forward to these celebrations, we also want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of fostering a positive school culture. As a community, we must ensure that GNBVT remains a place where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to be their best selves. Recently, we have faced challenges with conflicts, vaping, and attendance, and it is essential that we work together to guide our students toward making responsible choices. Parents and caregivers play a crucial role in shaping this culture by encouraging open conversations at home—discussing the value of kindness, empathy, and respect, and helping students understand that conflicts should be resolved calmly and maturely. Remind your child that they are not alone and that you are here to support them in navigating challenges with a steady head and a positive mindset.
We are grateful for the partnership between families, staff, and students that makes GNBVT such a strong and caring community. Let’s finish this school year on a high note, working together to create a safe, supportive, and thriving environment for all.

A Message from Superintendent- Director Michael Watson
Every year, each public school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas.
The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student enrollment, teacher qualifications, accountability, and the progress our school is making toward narrowing proficiency gaps for different student groups, and more.
Please read on to see the details of the report card.

Ursula Crowell
My name is Ursula Crowell and I have been a nurse for 35 years. I received my BSN from Southeastern Massachusetts University, now known as UMass Dartmouth. While a good part of my career was at Southcoast Hospitals Group and Hawthorn Medical Surgery Center, I have been a school nurse for the past 11 years. I am honored to be part of the GNBVT nursing staff & family since 2017.
Recently I have obtained my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, helping me to better serve students, families and staff of our Bear community.
I am grateful to you and all the experiences, including future opportunities for learning and working with one another to make us healthier individuals and communities.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, listening to live music, going to the beach and shopping.
I look forward to continuing serving my GNBVT family; students, families and staff! Go Bears!
