Hello GNBVT Bears!
As we prepare to embrace the colder months, I want to extend a warm greeting to everyone, encouraging you to keep your spirits high despite the dip in temperatures. With the end of Trimester 1 approaching, I urge parents and guardians to remind their students of the importance of staying motivated. This is a crucial time for all students to focus on doing their best in every class, aiming to be a high achiever and have a sense of accomplishment. For our seniors, I encourage you to stay committed to the goal of graduation, keeping in mind the vision of being enlisted, enrolled, or employed by the time you walk across the stage in the spring. Remember, the sky truly is the limit!
I’d also like to remind everyone of our upcoming Annual Open House on November 24th, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. here at GNBVT. We’ll be hosting a special presentation at 11:00 a.m. in the Field House for prospective families interested in applying to our school. This will be a great opportunity to gain insights into the admissions process and learn more about what makes GNBVT such a unique place to learn and grow.
Please note that while we have limited handicap parking on-site, we also provide offsite parking with shuttle services to assist those who may need it. We look forward to welcoming all of you to our campus, as you explore the many opportunities awaiting your students here at GNBVT.
Warmly,
Warley Williams Principal, GNBVT

MRE Challenge
One team of 3 along with their advisor Henry Bousquet competed in the annual MRE Challenge which allows culinary students the ability to utilize and be creative with Military issue MREs. The team of three are Jeremiah Algarin, Katelyn Costa, and Olivia DeAlmeida vied for a chance to win any of 4 possible prizes during the SkillsUSA MRE challenge. The challenge was, to make an attractive presentation and delicious reinvention of several warfighters meals ready to eat. The students came away empty handed this time but vowed to return next year to rip victory from the hands of their competitors from other CVTE programs across the state. The contest takes place in Natick MA at the Army National Guard post there…

This fall the DEI office organized its very first Resource Fair of the school year in which our students stopped by the various tables at lunch to get information about programs and activities geared towards their age group. Shout Out to MassHire Youth Program, UMass Upward Bound program, New Bedford Parks, Recreation, and Beaches, United Way of Greater New Bedford Family Resource and Development Center, New Bedford Art Museum, The Beyond House and the YWCA for showing up and connecting our students to their programs and providing some great giveaways!

The fall season is also a time of vibrant color and cozy comforts. It’s a time when we gather for warm drinks, pull out our favorite sweaters, and savor seasonal flavors like pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon. Fall brings festivals and the excitement of holidays just around the corner, offering a moment to slow down, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of change.
We at GNBVT, aim to create an inclusive school environment where everyone feels respected and included, regardless of their holiday practices. We recognize that not everyone celebrates the same holidays or in the same way. Some may not celebrate at all. Inclusivity during the holidays extends beyond cultural celebrations. By promoting inclusion, respect, and empathy, we can create an environment where every student, faculty, and staff feels valued, accepted and celebrated for who they are. This holiday season, let’s not just celebrate traditions, let’s celebrate each other.
Connect with Mrs. deMelo, DEI & Community Specialist if you would like to know about the resources in the community that could assist your family with support during the holidays.

Our mission at Rie’s Readers is to ignite a love for reading in young children. We believe that reading sparks creativity and a thirst for learning. By getting books into the hands of young children, we aim to foster a love for reading that will last a lifetime.
Thank you to Mr. Feliciano and Mrs. Allain {Family of student Khloe Allain} from “Rie’s Readers” for presenting the importance of inclusion when selecting children’s literature.
