Amy Hood was born on August 9th, 1971. In Nashville Tennessee. She was surrounded by educators with most of her relatives being teachers. Hood joined Microsoft in 2002 and became EVP (Executive Vice President) and CFO (Chief Financial Officer) in 2013. She helped Microsoft and its customers strive toward growth through technological shifts including AI. Due to her advancements, Hood has been a large strategic partner to Microsoft’s CEO. She has accomplished long-term financial growth, also serving on the board of directors of 3M since 2017. Hood’s academic stature is that of a bachelor’s degree in economics from Duke University and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University. She is also known for being the first female CFO in Microsoft history.
Due to Hood becoming the first CFO in Microsoft history, it has earned her a ranking on the Forbes list of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women. Her ranking was #63 in 2013 and moved up to #28 in 2022. Hood has also served on 3M’s board of directors since 2017.
